If you are like me you just aren’t getting enough fruits and vegetables. And as the foundation of a healthy diet, consider fruits and vegetables your fountain of youth. Rich in vitamins, nutrients, antioxidants, fiber, and water, on paper that’s a perfect meal. But the facts tell us that seven out of every ten Americans – are failing to eat five fruits or veggies a day.Just a few small changes will help you eat better, feel better, and be the you that you dream of.
Stir in some fruit with you cereal or oatmeal. Fresh or frozen it is a huge step in the right direction. How about a smoothie. Combine some low fat milk or yogurt, a handful of frozen berries and a banana for an easy blended breakfast. Not a morning eater? Well you should be, busy or not grab a piece of fruit for the ride to work. If you can text while putting on mascara while driving on I-4 you can eat an apple. p.s. don’t text and drive.
Just add veggies. You’re cooking already and the recipe calls for vegetables, double them up. Add extra veggies to soups, an extra serving on your sandwiches or load up that casserole. Experiment, do you know my secret to a great marinara? Grated carrots, it gives a delicate sweetness that’s sure to please. Kick it up a notch by adding onions, mushrooms, zucchini and peppers.
